Choose from Two Concentrations
Cloud Computing
The Cloud Computing concentration is designed to help students excel in cloud computing in the areas of architecting, development, and systems administration. Project-based courses allow students to apply industry practices and prepare students for a career in the cloud field. Students will gain experience through critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork and communication of ideas.
Software Development
The Software Development concentration prepares students for careers in the fast-growing field of computer programming and software development. Project-based course work provides students with an in-depth knowledge of current languages, APIs, and frameworks. Courses focus on object-oriented programming, systems development, agile methods, software testing and installation. Students will be well-prepared to enter the field upon graduation with experience in hands-on, project-based software development.

Program Details
Lower-division Coursework
To fulfill the lower-division (first half) of the B.A.S. in Computing Technology and Software Development degree program, you must complete an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in one of the following areas.
Choose from these associate degrees:
A.S. in Computer Information Technology
Become a well-rounded technician who solves a wide range of problems-from computer repair and software installation to computer security—all while meeting your general education and prerequisite requirements for this bachelor's degree.
A.S. in Computer Programming and Analysis
Gain an insight into computer technology and software development, including developing applications, providing technical solutions and learning programming languages. It lays the foundation in which you'll build on in this bachelor's degree.
Associate Degree in Other Subject Area
If you've earned an associate degree from a regionally accredited institution, many of your earned credits may be applied to this program. Several prerequisite courses may still be needed before beginning your upper-level coursework.
Upper-division Coursework
After completing a qualifying lower-division associate degree, you may move on to the upper-division (second half) of the B.A.S. in Computing Technology and Software Development degree program.

Steps to Completion
5 Steps to Your Bachelor's Degree
- Complete a qualifying associate degree as your lower-division coursework (including all prerequisites.) Note: If your degree is in another field, meet with a program advisor to discuss credits that may transfer to this degree program, as well as possible prerequisite courses that are needed.
- Apply for the bachelor's program.
- Once you're accepted, meet with a program advisor and enroll in classes.
- Complete program requirements as outlined in the online catalog. 60 credit hours from the A.A. or A.S. degree and 60 hours of B.A.S. coursework. The credit courses required may vary depending on the credits you bring into the program.
- Graduate with your B.A.S. in Computing Technology and Software Development.

(60 credits transferred in)You can earn your associate and B.A.S. in Computing Technology and Software Development degree program in as few as four years. If you already have an eligible associate degree, your upper-division studies may take as little as two years to complete.

Software developers are in high demand across the nation. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects employment for software developers to grow more than 30 percent over the next decade, which is much faster than average for all occupations. Software developers are employed in a range of industries, including computer systems design, manufacturing and finance.
